The rumors stem from an image of the European Resistance 3 hardware bundle unearthed by website<a href=\"http:\/\/www.konsolentreff.net\/showthread.php?tid=14349\" target=\"_blank\">Konsolentreff.net<\/a>. That image features the phrase \u201cPSN Pass.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sony Computer Entertainment Europe confirmed the program, calling it the company\u2019s version of \u201cOnline Pass\u201d or \u201cProject Ten Dollar\u201d used by several third party publishers such as EA, Sega, and THQ.<\/p>\n<p>These one-time-use programs enable online play for the original purchaser. Anyone buying the game new will have to purchase a new code via the PlayStation Store.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis program will be game-specific,\u201d an unnamed Sony rep said. \u201cGames that are a part of this program will include a single-use registration code that grants the account holder redeeming the code full online access for that title.\u201d The initiative is intended to \u201caccelerate our commitment to enhancing premium online services across our first party game portfolio.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sony later clarified its statement, saying that it was a joint SCEE\/SCEA statement, meaning that the same program was applicable to North America and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are always evaluating new programs for our online offering, and starting with Resistance 3 this September, we will be instituting a network pass program for PS3 games with online capabilities. This program will be game-specific. Games that are a part of this program will include a single-use registration code that grants the account holder redeeming the code full online access for that title.
