2011 has been one hell of a year for gaming. Not only in quantity, but especially in quality. To rattle off a few, there is Batman Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Forza 4, Uncharted 3, NBA 2K12, Gears of War 3, Skyrim, Modern Warfare 3, Dead Island, and so much more. The games mentioned here all got 4 out of 5 reviews or better. So where do we go with Game of the Year? (www.Vgoty.com) How many RPG fans are going to scream “SKYRIM”!!!!? And how many shooter fans are going to scream “MODERN WARFARE 3”!!!!!!? And how many purest are going to argue that Arkham City deserves the credit? And what about everyone else who says Gears of War 3 is the most complete game ever shipped and we will still be playing new content for it two or three years from now? Gaming has really made a huge turn this year as far as quality, and developers have just tapped into perfecting their product on the current generation consoles. But with the new gen consoles expected as early as 2012, shall we expect a new huge learning curve for our devs, or will the big 3 make the new gen consoles easier to develop on? More to come.
